1. Adams, W.H. Davenport. WASHINGTON
AND OTHER GREAT MILITARY COMMANDERS. A SERIES OF BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES.. London:
George Routledge & Sons, 1885. 383 pages. No date of publication listed, but
appears to be mid 1880's. Blue cloth covers with decoration on spine and front
cover. There is slight dulling to the spine title. The edges of the spine show
shelf wear. There is a very small tear to the cloth at the top of that. The
corners are rubbed and slightly bumped. The center of the text block is starting
to crack, but still holding nicely. With woodcut illustrations. $25.00
2. Bancroft, Aaron. THE
LIFE OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, CMDR. IN CHIEF OF THE AMERICAN ARMY, THROUGH THE
REVOLUTIONARY WAR; AND THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Two volume
set.. Boston: E. Littlefield, 1839. Two volume
set. Small black cloth binding shows wear to the spine edges and corners.
Corners are rubbed, but not severely. A couple of small scuff marks on the
bottom spines, probably where library ink marks were rubbed out. This is a minor
flaw. Their is an ink stamp inside the back cover from a former college library,
but no other ex-library markings. A nice set overall. $75.00
