20. Euler, Leonhard. LETTERS OF EULER TO A GERMAN PRINCESS, ON DIFFERENT SUBJECTS IN PHYSICS AND PHILOSOPHY. Translated from the French by Henry Hunter D.D., with original notes and a Glossary of Foreign and Scientific Terms. In Two Volumes. London, Printed for the Translator and for H. Murray, No. 32 Fleet-Street: 1795. 1st Edition. This is the 1795 first English-language edition. Two volume set. Both volumes have new brown leather spines. Corners are vellum, with a couple of the board corner vellum replaced. Original marbled paper over board covers. Bindings are tight and the contents are complete, including all plates. I carefully collated this book and found the following: Page 173 is numbered as "137"; page 356 is numbered "310"; page 357 is numbered "307". Page 451 has a small margin tear. There are a few small chips to a the tops of few of the pages near the front of the book, not affecting text. Page leaf 474-475 is not in the book, but has been misnumbered as "476-477. No text is missing and no break in the content. This can be verified by looking at the final word at the bottom of one page and the initial word at the top of the following page, which was the collation method typesetters used at that time. A few of the plates are bound out of order or not in chronological order, but all plates are present. $2495.00
