Former librarly label on the spine. Some soiling to page edges and some wear to binding. Binding is tight and contents complete. An important book in the history of farming and agriculture. The author advocated and pioneered the method of crop rotation and potato culture. Text is entirely in French. $75.00

13. Gregg, Thomas. HOW TO RAISE FRUITS. A HAND-BOOK OF FRUIT CULTURE.. New York: S.R. Wells & Company, 1880. 183 pages. Green cloth shows quite a bit of shelf wear to the spine and corners. Corners are bumped and rubbed. Some scuff marks on the spine. Some of the pages have pencil sketches of the fruit illustrations and a couple have tears at the edges, not affecting the text. A scarce title. $60.00

Volume I (1). 1839.. Concord, New Hampshire: Published by John M. Hill, 1839. 190 pages. This is volume 1 complete in 12 monthly issues for 1839. Original binding with brown leather spine and corners and with marbled paper over board covers. There are a few chips to the leather at the top of the spine and quite a bit of wear and rubbing to the spine and corners. The corners are rubbed through. The binding is tight and the pages are clean and tightly bound. Measures 12.5 inches tall by just under 9 inches wide. The articles are entirely on the subject of agriculture, both domestic and international. There are some woodcut illustrations. A wonderful early American agricultural and farming periodical. $150.00

16. Hill, Isaac. THE FARMER'S MONTHLY VISITOR. Intended to Promote the Interest of the Farmer, to Defend the Dignity of the Agricultural Profession, and Encourage the Practice of Domestic Economy. Volume II (2). 1840.. Concord, New Hampshire: Published by John M. Hill, 1840. 190 pages. Complete volume 2, issued monthly. Fully original binding, with brown leather spine and corners and with marbled paper over board covers. There is shelf wear to the spine edges and the board edges and corners. A few scuffs and rubbed spots to the spine, mostly along the joints and the edges. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. A beautiful copy. This volume contains an issue with a section on farm architecture, with illustrations and plans for building and dwelling quarters for a laborer without a farm, and plans for a village cottage for a small family. A most interesting early American agricultural book. Measures 12.5 inches tall by just under 9 inches wide. The articles are entirely on the subject of agriculture, both domestic and international. There are some woodcut illustrations of farm implements and tools such as plows, harrows, and other implements. $150.00

Shelf wear to binding and rubbing to spine and corners. Corners bumped. There are some rubbed spots to the covers. Remnants of the 19th-century paper label are at the bottom of the spine and the spine title is written in neat ink on the spine, but there are no internal indications of ex-library. It appears to be a former owners marking. Very scarce first edition. $225.00
