The author spent time in Salt Lake City among the Mormons and writes extensively about her impressions of Brigham Young and the Mormon people. While having the preconceived notion that the Mormons were ignorant and uncultured simpletons, she makes many positive remarks about Salt Lake City and its residents (always qualifying it with a reminder that they are backwards and uneducated). $30.00

The author was a real crusty old salt and relates his experiences with mining and other adventures in the American West. $20.00

There is a ca. 2" tear to the paper at the bottom of the front joint. The top page edges are a bit dog-earred from usage. Some discoloration to the binding. Binding is tight. Contains numerous plates. $35.00

Binding clean and tight and all plates present. A beautiful and important publication of the Carnegie Institution. $225.00
