Brown cloth covers show slight wear to the edges. The top edges of the pages are slightly wavy, meaning that the top of the book probably had water contact some point. There is not evidence of water staining or damage, just the slight waviness. There is a remnant of a retail bookstore label on the back cover. An excellent historical publication. The subject of the biography participated in much of the early history of the LDS church. He also lived in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, and there is extensive information about the Mexican Revolution and that time in history. Also good information on early Arizona LDS history. Very scarce. $150.00

The hinges have been repaired with archival glue. Some staining to the title page and a few of the initial text pages. A few scuffed spots to the leather spine. There is a small chip missing to the leather at the top and bottom of the spine. The edges of the boards are worn through. Inside the back cover there is a label removal scar and on the verso of the title page there are library ink numbers, but there are no library stamps in the book and the library label on the spine. The binding is tight. This is the rarest of the Utah town and county histories. An excellent early LDS historical book. $250.00

Benjamin Winchester was in and out of favor with LDS church leaders in the early 1840's. He moved to Philadelphia and published several books, this being among them.
