This 1861 London edition is much harder to find than the 1862 New York edition. Original 1/2 black leather binding with marbled paper over board covers. Shelf wear and rubbing to spine edges and corners. There are some scuffs to the leather binding. Red leather label on spine is intact and in very good condition. Corners are rubbed through. There is a small split to the leather at the top of the front joint, about 2 inches down the joint. Tissue guards are still in place with the steel-engraved illustrations. A significant and rare first edition of an important book in the field of Mormon and Western Americana collecting. $1250.00
