The original set was printed in two thick volumes. These five volumes are thinner. Printed ca 1877. Beautifully bound green cloth with gold decorations on the front cover and spine and gold edges to the text block. Some of the hinges have been neatly repaired with archival glue and bindings are tight. The volumes are large and heavy, measuring about 12.5 inches tall by 10 inches wide. Each volume contains about 275-300 pages. $375.00

43. Chamberlain, Henry. A New and Compleat (Complete) History and Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster. London: Printed for J. Cooke, 1771. 682 pages. 1771 edition. Original full brown leather binding. The front and back covers were detached, but have been professionally restored. The corners and edges of the leather covers have also been beautifully restored. The frontispiece page and title page have some chips to the edges which have been restored with Japanese paper. A few other preliminary pages have some chips to the edges. No text is affected, save one of the preface pages having a couple of characters of type missing. With 73 copper engraved plates and two maps present. The fold-out map of London is detached at one of the folds, but is complete, but has some chips and tears around the folds. Some dampstaning to the upper edges of some of the text pages on about 100 pages. Some pages have long repaired tears, repaired with archival tape. The text block is starting to crack, but holding firmly. The pages are complete. A rare and important London history. $900.00

No text is affected, save one of the preface pages having a couple of characters of type missing. With 73 copper engraved plates and two maps present. The fold-out map of London is detached at one of the folds, but is complete, but has some chips and tears around the folds.
