(Utah State Board of Agriculture). Utah Brand Book, 1922. Salt Lake City: Utah State Board of Agriculture, 1922. 231 pages.
Condition: Flexible red vinyl covers show some wear to the edges. The text is complete. There are a few flaws to the first couple of text pages. On the page following the title page, before the first page of brand marks, there is a section missing at the bottom, measuring about two inches high by about four inches wide. It constitutes about 20% of the page.
The first three pages of brand marks and registrations were torn out of the book and loose within the book. I was able to repair the tears with archival tape and tip the pages back into the book in their proper place. There are some chips and pieces missing at the edges of these pages and one small portion of text missing at the lower left corner of page 1-2, but otherwise the text is not affected. There are a couple of dozen pages that have small creases in the upper right corners. The binding is tight and the pages are clean.
This is a rare early Utah brand book. Each entry consists of the brand mark, how it appears on the left or right side of the animal, and the name, town, and county of the rancher to whom the brand is registered. These early brand books are always in high demand the collectible book market.
